Young dealers almost
parade by – we share stares –
they move off eyes down.
Sell cellophane kinds of death;
Black one carries A long stick?*
- (Last day of Middle School. Second time they both show just after school lets out, this time neither the small black new coup comes by for an open-window toss or pass or the other grey-beige car comes. The white kid is without his trademark skateboard and has shaved off the cat-skhers he might call a beard. That one has been here three or four times the past 10 days and his last solo trip he made “the pass” to the black car as all four of us – me, about 20 yards off, he standing and two dudes in the car all exchanged strong eye-words – that was just a bit too brazen. Moved some of my persuasion closer to the front door.)
